National Voter Registration Day

September 17 is National Voter Registration Day. Celebrate by exercising your right and duty to protect our democracy with your vote. Democracy depends on citizen voting. It is the most American thing you can do! So please register and vote.

Where to Register? The League of Women Voters’ Vote411; at the Colorado Secretary of State website; or your County Clerk and Recorder’s office or website.

How? Provide simple, basic information, online or in person. Important: if you're already registered check your status, address, or affiliation on file. Ballots are mailed beginning Oct. 11 to the address on file. They will not be forwarded, so make sure your information is correct. If you don’t receive your ballot timely, call your County’s Clerk and Recorder’s office.

When? Coloradans can register to vote at any time, including Election Day, November 5, with ID such as those listed on the Colorado Secretary of State website. To receive a mail-in ballot, the county clerk must receive a voter registration application on or before 8 days before the 2024 General Election. Check locations, dates and times for drop boxes and polling centers at your County Clerk’s website. To mail your ballot back, remember to add postage.

Again, you can submit a voter registration application up to election day. Go to the nearest Voter Service and Polling Center. The county clerk’s office will process the application and provide a ballot to be completed on site. Whether you vote by mail or in person you can track your ballot’s receipt and progress here.

Every election is important. Vote all the way down the ballot. The more local – the further down the ballot – the closer the issue or office comes to your kitchen table, the greater the impact on your daily life.

Candidate and ballot information are available at Vote411. Candidates can choose to respond to the League’s questions directly onto the VOTE411 site. Our League serves a three county area - Delta, Montrose and Ouray. We provide local candidate forums and ballot issue presentations, often both in-person and virtually. Watch your local media for more information or visit our Events Page.

The League of Women Voters supports informed voting for all citizens, regardless of party affiliation. While we are indeed a political organization, the League does not promote any political party or candidate. Visit our website to stay informed. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and X (formerly Twitter). Finally, please consider becoming a League member.

Thank You,
