Slow The Process Down

Let’s encourage the Montrose City Council to ‘slow the process down’ in placing proposed amendments to the City Charter on the ballot in the November 2026 elections.

During a Montrose City Council ‘Special Meeting’ held on July 29th to discuss two of the proposed amendments, it became apparent that overlooking specific details during the formulation of the language in the proposed amendments can lead to unintended consequences. To assure that the language in the proposed amendments to the City Charter is ‘crafted’ carefully to avoid unintended consequences will require diligence and time.

The discussion amongst the 5 members of the City Council and public comments made during the ‘Special Meeting’ by participants of the Montrose community is recorded.

For members of the Montrose community who did not participate in the Montrose City Council ‘Special Meeting’ held on July 29th - viewing the recorded ‘Special Council Meeting’ will contribute to an understanding of why rushing to place the proposed amendments on the ballot could result in serious mistakes with negative consequences for future city governance.
