LWV Colorado and LWV Minnesota stand together to denounce the latest anti-Muslim hate and racist vitriol being expressed among our elected officials. U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert’s references to fellow congresswoman Rep. Ilhan Omar with several racist slurs are grotesque and dangerous to both Muslim Americans and to our democracy. We must speak out when false narratives are used to justify racial and religious bigotry, and Rep. Boebert's continued comments that align Muslim people with terrorism must not be tolerated. The League of Women Voters remains vigilant in its condemnation of hate speech in all forms and encourages all elected officials to maintain a code of conduct worthy of their trusted position. Boebert represents Colorado's 3rd congressional district, and Omar represents Minnesota's 5th congressional district
