It‘s a good day to raise a glass to celebrate Women‘s Equality Day, officially celebrated on August 26th. The day commemorates the 19th Amendment which "prohibits the states and the federal government from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States on the basis of sex". The amendment was approved by Congress on June 4, 1919 and ratified on August 18, 1920.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a rerun of the recording of the Alien Enemies Act presentation from March 22, 2025 – Mr. Uyeno is NOT speaking again.

Mr. Uyeno spoke on the use of the Alien Enemies Act (Act) during World War II to incarcerate, without due process, 120,000 persons of Japanese ancestry, including American citizens. He then drew lessons for today‘s use of the Act against immigrants and their families.

Join us for "The One Big Beautiful Budget Act vs. The One Inadequate Colorado State Budget" with Christopher Stiffler, an economics professor and senior economist at the Colorado Fiscal Institute in Denver, Colorado.

Christopher got his start explaining economics in 2009, writing an explanatory economics column for his small hometown newspaper in Bedford, Pennsylvania.

He has appeared on National Public Radio, Colorado Public Radio’s “Colorado Matters” and KGNU’s “It’s the Economy.”
